Air Quality

Thank you for visiting the Cumberland County Air Quality Information web page. Air Quality Attainment Status has a direct effect on the quality of life for Cumberland County citizens. We are currently in process of implementing an Early Action Compact to address and prevent high ozone levels in Cumberland County. In order to maintain attainment status, we must submit a Bi-Annual Report to EPA, which outlines the progress that we have made towards attaining the ozone standards. For more information, please view our Air Quality Plan or our list of Air Quality Stakeholders.

Thank you to the NC DENR Air Quality Division for providing FAMPO with 300 of these anti-idling signs. FAMPO is working with the Cumberland County School System to install these signs at schools throughout the county where idling vehicles accumulate and may put children at risk of exposure to elevated levels of air pollution. Do your part to improve our community's air quality by reducing the amount of time you spend idling in your car.
